2009 ART guidelines for adults and adolescents - evidence map
The 2009 update of WHO's Antiretroviral therapy for HIV infection in adults and adolescents, was based on a process of review and synthesis of new and emerging evidence. This process included consideration of systematic reviews, GRADE profiles, risk-benefit analyses, technical reports, as well as the findings from impact, feasibility and cost assessments, each contributing to the development of sound global recommendations.
These guidelines have been developed for a global audience and it is expected that to be effectively implemented, each country will adapt them to their local context.
To assist countries to adapt these new recommendations, all the evidence materials used in their creation are now available on the WHO website for use by programme managers, academic institutions and national ART advisory committees in updating guidelines for adults and adolescents according to their local circumstances.
