General criteria for presentations - Bangkok meeting
Participants are invited to submit an abstract for a presentation addressing the results of household water treatment and safe storage (HWTS) field research or the impact of implementation activities, with a focus on developing countries. It is expected that the presentation conform to one or more of the following HWTS themes:
- candidate technologies and systems, including safe storage
- scaling-up of implementation (e.g. social marketing, delivery systems and business models)
- economic considerations (e.g. cost-effectiveness, willingness to pay research)
- socio-cultural aspects (e.g. poverty and gender)
- emergencies (e.g. experiences in South Asia following tsunami)
- chemical removal (e.g. arsenic and fluoride, especially systems that are also effective for microbes)
- emerging and new HWTS technologies and systems
The goal of the symposium is to share the latest available information (e.g. over the last year) on HWTS, as per above, such that we can get a better understanding of:
- candidate technologies, including multi-barrier approaches, and which function effectively under what conditions
- how to successfully introduce HWTS into communities
- how to promote sustainable HWTS practices within households
A Scientific Organizing Committee will carefully review all abstracts and select a limited number of presentations for each thematic session. Presentations should not exceed 10-15 minutes to allow ample time for discussion.
