12th World Congress on Public Health

The Congress brought together leaders from across the globe to discuss the growing challenges of public health in a world where nations and economies are increasingly interdependent. The strengthening of the capacity of the public health workforce and systems in support of the essential public health functions and the Millennium Development Goals were a central topic of discussion.
The WHO Department of Human Resources for Health participated in the panels on "Strengthening health systems through quality improvement in public health education", "Revisiting primary health care: bringing care closer to people by improving health worker retention in remote and rural areas", "International health worker migration: current trends, challenges and potential solutions", "New trends in knowledge dissemination" and "Human resources for health: time for a global mobilization".
