Forum IV - IFCS Simple Indicators of Progress
The following report monitors the progress of countries toward meeting the IFCS Priorities for Action Beyond 2000. The report was prepared as an information paper for the Forum Standing Committee to assist in preparations for Forum IV.
In order to prepare this report, questionnaires with a number of "simple indicators of progress" were sent to national governments and the Participating Organizations of the Inter-Organizational Programme for the Sound Management of Chemicals (IOMC). The simple indicators were selected to provide basic information on country progress, focusing on key items with target dates for completion before Forum IV for which information was relatively easy to collect. This report is a summary of the information received through questionnaires received by February 2003.
Please note that the report is a work in progress and will be updated when additional information is received. Obtaining information from national governments has been a challenge - a relatively low number of countries have responded (56 to date). A table listing the names of countries, organized by region, who have responded to the questionnaire is included can be accessed below.
We welcome and encourage further country contributions to this report. A link to the invitation letters for governments to participate and copies of the questionnaire is provided below.
