Prof. Jamidu H.Y. Katima
Chemical engineer born in Bukoba (Tanzania) in 1955, he has been working with the University of Dar es Salaam since he graduated with a B.Sc. (Eng) in 1982. He obtained his PhD from Leeds University in UK in 1990. He has served as Head of Department of Chemical and Process Engineering (2000 - 2001) he is now the Dean of Faculty of Mechanical and Chemical Engineering. Prof. Katima has been involved in the activities of chemicals management in his country. He chaired the Steering Committee that prepared the Tanzanian National Profile. Prof. Katima has also been one of the Lead Authors of Chapter 4 of the Third Assessment Report of the IPCC and he is currently a Member of the IPCC - Task Force Bureau on Inventory representing Anglophone Africa.
