Safekeeping of eradicated dangerous pathogens
Containment of poliovirus:
- Collaborate with POL in the development and implementation of post eradication containment guidelines (GAP III)
- Contribute to development of polio vaccine production containment guidelines for use in the global post-certification and post-eradication era
Containment of smallpox virus:
- Develop a protocol for the biosafety and laboratory biosecurity inspection visits of the two official WHO variola virus repositories (VECTOR, Russia, and CDC, USA)
- Regularly audit and provide guidance for containment of smallpox virus in the two official WHO repositories
