International Health Regulations Coordination WHO Lyon Office
The WHO Lyon Office is part of the IHR Coordination Department within the Health Security and Environment cluster at WHO Headquarters in Geneva Switzerland.
The mission of the Office is to, in collaboration with the WHO Regional and Country Offices, assist countries to strengthen their national surveillance and response systems to better detect, assess, notify events and respond to public health risks emergencies of international concern under the
International Health Regulations (2005) or "IHR (2005)".
ACTIVITIES
Our activities focus on strengthening national core public health capacities for disease surveillance and response through the following project areas and initiatives:
- Quality management in public health laboratories
- Training for laboratory specialists
- Laboratory Twinning Initiative
- Ports, airports and ground crossings
- Epidemiological surveillance
- Training and education in relation to global public health security and the IHR (2005)
