Millions of Tanzanian children protected against measles
Receiving other life-saving health interventions
During the campaign, children were also given vitamin A and deworming tablets. Vitamin A boosts the immune system and improves the chances of survival, growth and development. Deworming tablets rid children of parasites that contribute to anaemia, permanent organ damage, poor physical growth and intellectual development.
Immunization contacts provide an excellent opportunity for communities to access additional preventive and curative services, goods and information in support of child health, primary care and reproductive health. The combined delivery of several health interventions can strengthen health systems and saves money. Integrating immunization with other linked health interventions is an important component of the Global Immunization Vision and Strategy 2006-2015 which has been adopted by WHO Member States.
