Professor Claire-Anne Siegrist

Claire-Anne Siegrist is Professor of Vaccinology at the University of Geneva, Switzerland, attending physician for pediatric infectious diseases, vaccinology and immunology at the University Hospitals of Geneva, Director of the Pediatric Department of the University of Geneva and Head of the WHO collaborating Center for Neonatal Vaccinology.
Professor Siegrist has dedicated her professional life to vaccinology since 1994. She serves as an expert on various national and international advisory committees. She is the President of the Swiss Advisory Committee for Immunizations since 2004 and a member of the UK Joint Committee for Vaccination and Immunization since 2008. She has contributed to some 175 scientific publications in the field of vaccine immunology, studying in particular “how vaccines work” and the mechanisms of the maturation of infant responses, identifying strategies likely to enhance them and allowing a better understanding of the influence of maternal immunity on early life immune maturation.
Professor Siegrist is invited worldwide to give seminars and conferences on vaccine immunology and vaccine safety issues, being widely appreciated for her teaching skills. Professor Siegrist is also directly involved in multiple activities aiming at improving the training of health professionals on vaccine related issues, including the setting up of InfoVac, a network for the information of health professionals on all issues regarding immunization. Her engagement for the promotion of evidence-based vaccinology is recognized worldwide.
