Current activities

There are currently a number of ongoing WHO activities concerning Immunization safety that started only recently. More information on these activities will be published as and when available.

Activities currently in development

  • The Global Network for Post-Surveillance of Newly Prequalified Vaccines is a WHO initiative to establish standardized post-marketing surveillance (PMS) of the safety of vaccines that are newly pre-qualified and introduced, or expanded, into routine immunization programmes.

  • The Global Vaccine Safety Blueprint Project is a WHO-led study of the current performance of vaccine pharmacovigilance systems in low- and middle-income countries, and of existing inter-country and global support mechanisms, with the aim of developing a broad strategic collaborative approach to assist all countries reach a minimal level of capacity.
