A reliable supplier is one that is responsive to the purchasers needs and enquiries, has a proven track record, has adequate supply chain management, offers high quality products, at reasonable prices and meets all the agreed terms and conditions of the contract.

Measuring supplier reliability requires an adequate monitoring system at a central level which allows for tracking of key determinants of supply.
