V3P next steps
The Information Gathering and Analysis activities of the V3P project is now complete with advice provided by the Steering Committee the working team have synthesised the results of these activities and are now progressing with the options development for the ultimate V3P mechanism.
Under consideration are:
- The establishment of a database platform of country and partner information on vaccine prices in the context of the procurement modalities utilised to gain those prices. The proposal is to collect, collate and validate the data and then publish this in a web-based platform which allows for comparison of different prices for the same vaccine product. Key product characteristic information will also be included sourced from partners. This system will require a pilot project to be conducted before any broader publication and the team are considering possible countries for inclusion into this phase.
- The development and publication of more documents relating to the V3P project to provide further information on vaccine products, prices and procurement. This will involve the further expansion and development of a website of information sources.
- Providing a portal on the V3P website for information linkages to other partner and stakeholder information with explanations as to their potential use. This will allow synergistic activities to the V3P project to be linked through a single portal without any unnecessary reproduction or repetition and would provide users with a one-stop-shop of information.
- The development and expansion of capacity building activities in countries to allow for the appropriate utilisation of the V3P mechanism and to gain the maximum benefits from the information provided.
The technical and practical aspects of these proposal areas are currently under development and will be informed by the recommendations and advice of the steering committee.
