Source: Laboratory confirmed data from the Global Influenza Surveillance and Response System (GISRS).

National Influenza Centres (NICs) and other national influenza laboratories from 75 countries, areas or territories reported data to FluNet for the time period from 24 July 2017 to 06 August 2017 a (data as of 2017-08-18 03:36:54 UTC). The WHO GISRS laboratories tested more than 50456 specimens during that time period. 8401 were positive for influenza viruses, of which 7644 (91%) were typed as influenza A and 757 (9%) as influenza B. Of the sub-typed influenza A viruses, 779 (11.6%) were influenza A(H1N1)pdm09 and 5930 (88.4%) were influenza A(H3N2). Of the characterized B viruses, 168 (63.4%) belonged to the B-Yamagata lineage and 97 (36.6%) to the B-Victoria lineage.
