Source: Laboratory confirmed data from the Global Influenza Surveillance and Response System (GISRS).

Based on FluNet reporting (as of 15 May 2014, 08:45 UTC), during weeks 15 to 16 (6 April 2014 to 19 April 2014), National Influenza Centres (NICs) and other national influenza laboratories from 91 countries, areas or territories reported data. The WHO GISRS laboratories tested more than 54 657 specimens. 7067 were positive for influenza viruses, of which 3524 (49.9%) were typed as influenza A and 3540 (50.1%) as influenza B. Of the sub-typed influenza A viruses, 918 (40.9%) were influenza A(H1N1)pdm09, and 1325 (59.1%) were influenza A(H3N2). Of the characterized B viruses, 424 (91.2%) belong to the B-Yamagata lineage and 41 (8.8%) to the B-Victoria lineage.
