Source: Laboratory confirmed data from the Global Influenza Surveillance and Response System (GISRS).

Based on FluNet reporting (as of 12 June 2014, 12:15 UTC), during weeks 21 to 22 (18 May 2014 to 31 May 2014), National Influenza Centres (NICs) and other national influenza laboratories from 76 countries, areas or territories reported data. The WHO GISRS laboratories tested more than 30 179 specimens. 1919 were positive for influenza viruses, of which 1198 (62.4%) were typed as influenza A and 721 (37.6%) as influenza B. Of the sub-typed influenza A viruses, 188 (21.3%) were influenza A(H1N1)pdm09 and 694 (78.7%) were influenza A(H3N2). Of the characterized B viruses, 36 (80%) belong to the B-Yamagata lineage and 9 (20%) to the B-Victoria lineage.
