Influenza Burden of Disease and Economic Analysis

Objectives
- share examples of assessments and analyses by developing countries of the health, financial, economic impacts of seasonal influenza on their populations;
- share examples of formulation of evidence-based and cost-effective policies of developing countries to reduce the impact of influenza;
- learn about reliable and methodologically sound burden-of-disease studies and analyses of the financial and economic impacts of influenza;
- identify essential needs and current gaps in data collection and analysis systems in developing countries for successful assessment of the burden-of-disease and financial/economic impacts of influenza;
- discuss the development of coordinated approaches to address these identified gaps in data collection and analysis systems;
- discuss ideas for leveraging existing resources at regional and national levels to meet needs for assessment and analysis on the health, financial, and economic impacts of influenza on national economies;
- identify ways to engage with international partners on these and related issues.
