Professor Pakdee Pothisiri
Senior Deputy Permanent Secretary of Health, Government of Thailand
Professor Pothisiri has received his B.Sc in Pharmacology from Chulalongkorn University, Thailand and a B.A. in Law from Ramkamhaeng University, Thailand. He was awarded an M.Sc. in Pharmacology and a Ph.D in Physical Chemistry from the of Wisconsin, USA and a D.P.H. in Public Health Administration from Mahidol University, Thailand. He also holds an honorary Ph.D from Chulalongkorn University in Pharmacology.
Professor Pothisiri has served in various high level positions in the Ministry of Public Health in Thailand including Director-General of the Department of the Health and as as Secretary General of the Food and Drug Administration between 1995 and 1997. He is currently the Senior Deputy Permanent Secretary of Health, Government of Thailand and President of The Pharmacy Council of Thailand.
Between 1974 and 1990 Professor Pothisiri served as the Chairman of the Jurisprudence Division of the Federation of the Asian Pharmaceutical Association and he is currently the Chairman of the National Forum on Research and Development of Natural Products and the Chairman of the national drug, food and chemical safety commissions. . Between 1981 and 2000, he was also a member of the WHO Expert Panel on Drug Policy and Management. He is a Governing Board member of several organs including the Government Pharmaceutical Organization, the Biotechnology Research Center of Thailand and several universities. Professor Pothisiri also serves as honorary advisor to several associations.
Professor Pothisiri was awarded the Outstanding Alumni of the School of Public Health from Mahidol University in 1997 and the Men of Achievements award from the Association for Thai Society in 1996. In 1975 he was awarded the Ebert Prize from the US National Academy of Sciences for best scientific report of the year.
He has more than 50 scientific papers published in international scientific journals to his name.
