Internships with CIPIH

Application procedures

The World Health Organization offers internship opportunities for graduate or post-graduate university students, generally in health-related programmes. The Commission on Intellectual Property Rights, Innovation and Public Health is currently looking for interns to contribute to its areas of work. Potential canditates would ideally have a background in public health with knowledge of law and/ or economics.

Objectives:

(a) to provide a framework for assigning students from diverse academic backgrounds to WHO programmes, where their educational experience can be enhanced through practical work assignments;

(b) to expose them to the work of WHO and

(c) to provide WHO programmes with the assistance of students specializing in various fields.

Eligibility: Minimum age 20 years. Applicants must be enrolled in a course of study leading to a formal qualification. They must possess fluency in at least one of the working languages of the office of assignment. Good computer skills (Word/Excel) are essential. Persons related to a staff member (e.g. son/daughter, brother/sister) are not eligible for internships.

Duration: 6 weeks minimum to 12 weeks maximum.

Financial: Interns are not paid. Travel costs, travel arrangements and living accommodation are the responsibility of the intern or their sponsoring institution. Interns must have adequate medical insurance coverage.

Employment: Interns are not eligible for appointment to any position with the Organization for a period of three months following the end of the internship. Any employment with WHO shall be subject to established recruitment and selection procedures.
