Chemicals assessment
Recent capacity-building activities
IPCS continues to apply its policy of regional balance in selecting experts to participate in committees convened to develop internationally-agreed assessments of the risks of chemicals, and to develop internationally-agreed methods for undertaking such assessments. This results in the selection of experts from developing countries and countries with economies in transition, thereby facilitating application of the methods and assessments in those countries.
In order to make use of the gathering of international experts for the Final Review Board and Risk Assessment Steering Group meetings, workshops are being arranged on national/regional chemical risk assessment and management priorities. Recently, such meetings have been arranged in Beijing, PR China and Sofia, Bulgaria, in 2003, and in Hanoi, Vietnam, 2004. The programmes, presentations, conclusions and recommendations of these meetings are available below.
The intention is to continue these workshops, with the next one likely to be in autumn 2005, probably in India.
