Coordinating the response to chemical incidents and emergencies of international concern
The WHO IPCS Chemical Alert and Response Team identifies, alerts, tracks and, where appropriate, coordinates a response to chemical incidents and emergencies on a global basis.
In addition to coordinating a response to chemical incidents, PCS and experts within the network can rapidly respond to requests for assistance from Member States. In fact in the last twelve months work has been undertaken in conjunction with Regional Offices: with EURO in Macedonia and with EMRO in Somalia. It is likely that in the near future a third mission will involve AFRO colleagues in Tanzania.
