Scientific assessment of food additives

The 63rd Meeting of the Joint FAO/WHO Expert Committee on Food Additives was held in Geneva from June 8-17. The Committee evaluated 17 food additives and ingredients, a peroxyacid antimicrobial mixture for use as washing solution in food processing, glycyrrhicinic acid as natural component of liquorice, as well as 180 flavouring substances.

General aspects regarding the safety evaluation and intake assessment of flavouring agents and regarding the working procedures of the Committee were also considered. The Summary Report contains the main summary and conclusions of this meeting, more detailed evaluations will be published at a later time point.
