A progress report on implementation of WHA56.22 was considered by the World Health Assembly in May 2005. Over 60 Member States have made contributions to WHO regarding the possible elements of the SAICM including policy matters, coordination between countries and international conventions, capacity building and participation in the SAICM, its preparatory meetings, conference and follow-up. The contributions on the health aspects of chemical safety were presented and discussed at the three preparatory meetings for the SAICM. Health sector priorities have been included in the draft SAICM documents to be considered for adoption by governments and other stakeholders at the International Conference on Chemicals Management, 4-6 February 2006 in Dubai. Following this, as requested in WHA56.22 the completed SAICM will be referred to the Health Assembly for consideration.
