Americas - Yellow Fever

An intense increase in the circulation of the jungle yellow fever virus has been observed in the Americas since October 2008. One of the most important mechanisms for preventing yellow fever is vaccination and special attention should be paid to vaccinating national and international travellers who work or participate in recreational activities in areas where epizootics or human cases have been identified.

For more information, you may consult the update on the Pan American Health Organization Website:
and the WHO's International Travel and Health book chapters 5, 6 as well as "Country list, yellow fever vaccination requirements and recommendations" and Annex 1 "Countries with risk of yellow fever transmission and countries requiring yellow fever vaccination".
