Modeling Physical Accessibility to Health Care and Geographic Coverage (AccessMod©)


Downloading AccessMod©

As GIS technology evolves, two version of AccessMod© are currently freely available for download:

  • AccessMod© version 3.0
    This version works with Esri ArcView 3.2 GIS software and Spatial Analyst 1.1 extension. This version has been developed by the eHealth unit (WHO/IER/KMS/EHL) with financial contribution from the department of Making Pregnancy Safer (WHO/FCH/MPS).
  • AccessMod© version 4.0
    This version works with Esri ArcGIS 9.3.1 GSI software and corresponding Spatial Analyst extension. This version has been developed by the Department of Health Systems Financing (WHO/HSS/HSF) in collaboration with the WHO Vulnerability and Risk Analysis & Mapping programme (VRAM).

Each version comes with a user manual and a sample dataset.

Once the zip filed downloaded on your computer, unzip its content and read the instructions and information reported in the user manual (in the DOCUMENT folder) for the installation and use of the extension and sample dataset.

Copyright for both versions is vested in the World Health Organization (WHO). The WHO permits the use of these extensions in their present form for non-commercial (i.e. non-income generating) and non-promotional purposes.

The User may not modify, adapt, translate, reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or otherwise attempt to discover the source code of these extensions, without prior permission from the WHO. In addition, the User may not use any part of the contents of these extensions to develop a product that is to be sold or licensed for a fee. These extensions are being distributed without warranty of any kind, either expressed or implied. In no event shall the World Health Organization be liable for damages arising from their use. The emblem of the World Health Organization may not be reproduced without permission being specifically requested and expressly granted by WHO in writing.
