World No Tobacco Day 2012 – Stop tobacco industry interference
31st of May is World No Tobacco Day.
Each year, WHO and its member states celebrate World No Tobacco Day, highlighting the health risks associated with tobacco use and advocating for effective policies to reduce consumption.
The theme for 2012 is “tobacco industry interference.” In commemoration of this year's World No Tobacco Day, the WHO Centre for Health Development (WHO Kobe Centre) will organize an open forum in Kobe.
World Health Day 2012 – Ageing and Health
22 March 2012 -- Every year, World Health Day is celebrated on 7 April to mark the anniversary of the founding of WHO in 1948. The topic of World Health Day in 2012 is Ageing and health. The focus is how good health throughout life can help older men and women lead full and productive lives and be a resource for their families and communities. To mark World Health Day, WHO in Kobe is inviting members of the public to a special forum on ageing in Kobe on 7 April 2012. This promises to be a special event highlighting lessons and issues for Japan and the world!
First anniversary of the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake
11 March 2012 -- On the first anniversary of this disaster, the WHO Centre for Health Development (Kobe Centre) commemorates the actions of countless people in the communities affected through a special photo story which highlights how residents from one of the many cities affected helped in the response to the disaster. WHO Centre for Health Development also wishes to express its deepest sympathies to those who lost loved ones.
