Healthy ageing profiles
Guidance for producing local health profiles for older people
Abstract
This guidance uses a positive and dynamic model for profiling older people at the local level. Health profiles are important tools for health development planning and for monitoring progress in and accountability for the health of the community. Profiles should not simply promote positive features of city life but should also highlight gaps in services and difficult socioeconomic circumstances. The guidance covers 22 indicators grouped into three sections:
- population profile,
- health and social care systems and
- social portrait, indicating wider determinants of health and empowerment.
