Heat waves, floods and the health impacts of climate change: A prototype training workshop for city officials
Overview
The “Heat waves, floods and the health impacts of climate change: A prototype training workshop for city officials (WHO, 2010)” is a training package, which targets city officials as its primary users aimed at developing competencies in: 1) understanding climate change; 2) understanding how it impacts health; and 3) developing means of adapting to climate change. It contains reading materials, as well as a guide for study. The package is designed to accompany a face-to-face workshop, but it can also be used for self-paced learning in a less structured setting. After going through this training programme, the learner will be able to develop action plans at the city level to address the health impacts of climate change. The learner will also be able to draft resolutions that city councils and leaders can adopt in support of these actions.
