WHO Steering Committees
Leprosy research will continue to be managed by the existing mechanism of TDR/TUB/MIM collaboration, through two Steering Committees: the Steering Committee on Chemotherapy of Mycobacterial Diseases (THEMYC), and the Steering Committee on Immunology of Mycobacterial Diseases (IMMYC) The Steering Committee (SC) is composed of scientists from all over the world, with WHO staff serving as the Secretariat. Its role is to advise WHO on research priorities and strategies, and review research proposals submitted to it for approval and funding. A meeting of the Steering Committee is held on a yearly basis. The last meeting of THEMYC was held in February 1996 and of IMMYC in April 1996.
