The OAU/AU Conference of African Ministers of Health - April 2003
The Organization of African Unity/African Union convened the Conference of African Ministers of Health in Tripoli, Libya in April 2003. The Conference brought together Ministers of Health of African Union member states and experts from the African and Eastern Mediterranean Regions. An expert meeting preceded the ministerial meeting, with WHO supporting the preparation of technical documents and recommendations for debate by the Ministers of Health. During the Conference, the Ministers adopted resolutions that were submitted to their Heads of State and Governments for endorsement. The outcome of the meeting was presented at the World Health Assembly in May, and was discussed in the Maputo Summit in July 2003.
