Macroeconomics and Health (CMH)

Working Group sessions - 28 October

Consultation participants in the EB room.

A Preparatory Meeting on 28 October provided an opportunity for discussion, in Working Groups, of technical issues encountered in implementing the macroeconomics and health process in countries. Participants to the Preparatory Meeting included high-level government officials from each of the countries engaged in a macroeconomics and health process and WHO regional and country staff attending the Consultation. The Preparatory Meeting began with a brief introduction to the plan of the day and the three themes of the Consultation:

  • How to improve the effectiveness of health delivery systems and monitor outcomes;
  • How to make health central in the country macroeconomic framework and increase internal allocation of resources to health;
  • How to increase predictability of external funding and increase coordination with partners.

The participants then broke up into one of the three thematic Working Groups of their choice. At the end of the Working Group sessions, the participants reconvened for plenary discussions and presentations led by each group’s rapporteur.
