Macroeconomics and Health in the Andean Region
Participants to the XXV Meeting of Ministers of Health of the Andean Region (REMSSA), held 15-16 March 2004 in Venezuela, discussed the creation and working mechanism of the Andean Commission on Macroeconomics and Health. It is planned that the Commission will carry out joint work to determine priorities and financing for health services for the poor in rural areas. This initiative was endorsed by the heads of state of the Andean Community of Nations in 2003 and has received strong support from Ministers of Health of the region.
