Global vector control response online consultation

1 November 2016

During the 139th session of the Executive Board in May 2016, Member States requested that the Director General draft a global vector control response for consideration by the 70th World Health Assembly through the 140th Executive Board session. In June 2016, the WHO Global Malaria Programme (GMP), Department of Control of Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTD) and the Special Programme for Research and Training in Tropical Diseases (TDR) launched the development process.

The fast-tracked development process has been supported by a dedicated Steering Committee comprised of leading vector control experts, scientists and representatives of Member States. The Steering Committee convened twice to solicit inputs and review the draft document. Further support has been provided by regional offices, the GMP Malaria Policy Advisory Committee, the NTD Strategic and Technical Advisory Group and other key stakeholders, including UN organizations, scientific and research groups, non-governmental organizations and implementation partners.

WHO is holding web-based consultation from 1–30 November to solicit further comments from Member States and members of the global health community on an advanced draft of the WHO Global vector control response. We encourage you to participate in the consultation and to share the link with your networks. This information has already been communicated through a memorandum to all WHO Representatives and through a Circular Letter to Member States.

The online consultation is now closed.
