At a 2-day meeting this week in Madrid co-hosted by Unitaid, WHO and ISGlobal, international health experts addressed the challenges posed by vector-borne diseases and explored new ways to respond to them. “With resistance to insecticides on the rise, innovation is going to be vital to develop new diagnostics, treatments and prevention tools, including vector control tools,” said Dr Pedro Alonso, Director of the WHO Global Malaria Programme.
