Global Fund – funding proposal development – WHO policy brief 2016
The Global Malaria Programme has developed a number of tools to support the dissemination, adoption and implementation of this policy guidance by national malaria control programmes. These include key points on the guidance, and a Q&A.
This brief summarizes all malaria-related policies and interventions that are currently recommended by WHO, and replaces the previous versions of this brief. Its purpose is to present, in one concise document, a summary of WHO guidance that will assist countries to develop funding proposals for the Global Fund, as well as for other donors.
The policy brief highlights technical areas and implementation activities that should be included in proposals, with appropriate funding for effective implementation. Key intervention areas include: case management (diagnosis and treatment); supply management for diagnostic testing and treatment; community case management; prevention and treatment for special groups (pregnant women, children under five and infants); monitoring of drug efficacy; vector control and insecticide resistance; surveillance, monitoring and evaluation; as well as elimination.
