Biography of Dr Rajiv Bahl

Coordinator, Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health Research and Development Team, MCA

Dr Rajiv Bahl graduated from the University College of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, with a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery. He obtained his Doctor of Medicine degree in Paediatrics from Kalawati Saran Children’s Hospital, Lady Hardinge Medical College, University of Delhi, where he worked as a Senior Resident Paediatrician in 1993. He obtained his PhD in public health from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in 1999; and worked there as a Scientist (Epidemiology) in the Department of Paediatrics until 2003.

He briefly worked in WHO India in 2002 as a National Consultant (IMCI), and joined WHO Geneva, Switzerland a year later, as a Medical Officer in the Department of Child and Adolescent Health and Development. From 2003-2013, he was responsible for Newborn Health research and guidelines development and also lead the newborn health population group.

As of 2013, he is the Coordinator of the Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health Research and Development Team of the MCA Department at WHO. The Team is responsible for research and development of guidelines, training materials and other tools in the areas of maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health.
