Report of informal technical meeting to review and develop indicators for complementary feeding
3-5 December 2002, Washington, D.C.
Overview
Experts met in the WHO Regional Office in Washington to discuss next steps in the development of indicators to assess infant and young child feeding. Three working groups were formed who addressed indicators for assessing breastfeeding, complementary feeding, and feeding behaviours or responsive feeding. The report describes the deliberations and conclusions. As an outcome of this meeting, WHO led the development of new indicators to assess complementary feeding and convened a consensus meeting in November 2007 to review and update the small set of universal, population based indicators to assess infant and young child feeding.
