Overview
The Department of Making Pregnancy Safer (MPS) is supporting countries to improve maternal and newborn health. In order to accelerate progress towards the achievement of MDG 5 and MDG 4, the Department assists countries in the areas of advocacy, technical support, monitoring, surveillance and evaluation as well as partnership. MPS aims at ensuring that WHO can provide the most up-to-date information and guidance on maternal and newborn health to its Member States at all times. This publication covers the Department's activities during 2008.
