Special supplement of the Food and Nutrition Bulletin based on a WHO expert consultation on complementary feeding
Overview
This Special Supplement contains the background papers that were developed for the Expert Consultation on Complementary Feeding, convened by WHO in 2001. The papers examined a range of topics including energy and nutrient requirements of young children, caregiver behaviours influencing young child feeding, macro-level approaches and household food technologies to improve availability of complementary foods, and lessons learnt for scaling-up programs. As one of the outcomes of the Expert Consultation, PAHO/WHO published the Guiding Principles for Complementary Feeding of the Breastfed Child.
