How to address psychosocial reactions to catastrophe
Overview
WHO has developed a brief set of guidelines on what can be done based upon what we know about psychosocial reactions to catastrophe. All forms of catastrophe including natural disasters and wars tax people' s abilities to cope, understand and respond. Children and adolescents in these circumstances are also vulnerable and need the support of their caregivers. WHO can provide technical assistance through its network of regional and country offices, some of which have a developed programme to assist in emergency action and disaster relief.
