Measuring MDSR implementation takes into account different components of required for setting the MDSR system in place. Countries need to have a policy for notification of all maternal deaths, a policy for reviewing all maternal deaths, a national maternal death review committee in place and also sub national death review committees in place.

MDSR implementation status

MDSR implementation is progressing (green) if the national policies for notification and review of all maternal deaths are in place and if there is a national maternal death committee which meets at least biannually status. Having a policy for reviewing all maternal deaths in place but hot having either a policy on maternal notification or not having a national maternal death review committee that meets at least biannually is shown as partial progress (yellow). If a country does not have a national policy to review all maternal deaths, then it is shown as progress (red).
