High-Level Consultation to accelerate progress towards achieving maternal and child health MDGs 4 & 5 in South-East Asia

This event, to be held 14-17 October in Ahmadabad, India, is intended to facilitate accelerated and sustained progress towards the achievement of Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) 4 and 5 for maternal and child health in the countries of the WHO South-East Asia Region (SEAR). Specifically, it aims to:
- Review progress and identify barriers to achieving MDGs 4 and 5 in SEAR countries.
- Share evidence-based interventions and best practices on maternal, newborn and child health.
- Agree on a multisectoral framework for accelerating and sustaining the achievement of MDGs 4 and 5 in Region.
Participants will include representatives from all 11 SEAR member states, major partners and donors, as well as representatives of professional organizations, universities, academia; NGOs, civil society, and the news media.
