Strategy development
The Department proposes that every country develops a maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health MNCAH strategy within the context of their national health strategy. The strategy's aim is to guide the programme efforts for a period of 5 - 10 years and reflect upon a broad perspective of progress that is needed to achieve survival and health goals for MNCAH. The strategy should be a product of wide consultation and consensus among a host of partners. It should provide a framework with stated goals, objectives, priority interventions and coverage targets. It should specify the priority interventions to address major causes of morbidity and mortality, include impact and coverage targets and specify financial resources required to achieve these targets.
