9th Annual Workshop on Evidence for Health Policy

14 - 26 October 2002, Crete, Greece
This year's workshop will focus on measuring the burden of disease; the cost effectiveness of health interventions; assessing the performance of health systems; and the relationship between health and poverty.

The courses provide detailed instruction and practical experience in measuring burden of disease; undertaking analyses of the cost effectiveness of health interventions; assessing the performance of health systems, and using the evidence for policy. They will emphasize both conceptual and applied skills, including the use of specialized computer software in some of the modules.

The Workshop follows an intense and stimulating curriculum. There are four lectures (1.5 hours each) per day, with evening exercises on most days. All participants are provided with a complete set of Course Notes and relevant readings. For the evening exercises participants will have access to fully equipped computers for the duration of the Workshop. In order to get the most out of the course we strongly encourage participants to refresh their spreadsheet skills (Excel or Lotus) prior to attending the course.
