Clinical management of influenza pandemic (H1N1) 2009 and other acute respiratory illness in resource-limited settings

Learning from the influenza pandemic (H1N1) 2009

Place: Geneva, Switzerland
Date: 20–21 October 2010

This meeting will consider lessons learnt and good practices for the diagnosis and clinical management of pandemic and epidemic influenza in resource-limited settings. This information will be used to develop additional national or local plans to improve access to health care, clinical management of acute respiratory illness, and for community awareness-raising activities during periods of transmission of pandemic influenza or other epidemic-prone acute respiratory illnesses.

Meeting participants will be asked to review lessons learnt from settings where resources are limited for the diagnosis and management of influenza; list the key challenges of implementing clinical guidance in resource-limited settings; and use this information for the further development of country-specific action items to improve clinical management of influenza at all or focused levels of health care.
