The Global Health Workforce Alliance (GHWA) will convene the first Global Forum on Human Resources for Health from 2 to 7 March 2008 in Kampala, Uganda. Africa is the worst affected by the health workforce crisis. The forum will facilitate an analysis of what works, of what has not worked and why, and of how to accelerate progress. It will act as a launching pad for a global action plan.
About 1000 participants are expected to attend the event. Participants include GHWA members, global leaders in health and development sectors and representatives from governments, civil society organizations, UN and multilateral agencies, professional associations, the private sector and academic institutions.
The GHWA is a partnership dedicated to identifying and implementing solutions to the health workforce crisis. It is hosted and administered by WHO.
