International Health Partnership review meeting
Date: 4-5 February 2009
Place: Geneva, Switzerland
The first ministerial review of the International Health Partnership and related initiatives (IHP+) will be held in Geneva on the 4th and 5th of February 2009.
The IHP+ was launched in September 2007 to help developing countries accelerate their progress towards achieving the health-related Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). All signatories to the IHP+ Global Compact are committed to work together under the leadership of developing country partners to improve health care and health outcomes. They have agreed to meet each year to review progress on the partnership and the signatories' commitments.
This first high-level meeting will allow to exchange views on early achievements, remaining obstacles and potential opportunities to accelerate progress. Findings of the first independent review of the IHP+ carried out earlier this year will also be discussed. With the global economy in distress, the signatories will reflect on how to build on the current progress and maintain the IHP+ commitments and momentum.
