Laxmi's husband contracted TB but was successfully treated by following the WHO-recommended TB control strategy called DOTS. Unfortunately, before he underwent DOTS Laxmi also became infected. She became too ill to look after their children or take care of the household. After the success of her husband's treatment Laxmi followed a six month course of DOTS and recovered from TB. Laxmi is now able to once again manage the household and care for their children.
