In the morning plenary, Latvia, along with Afghanistan, China, Denmark, Djibouti, El Salvador, Mali, Singapore, Slovenia, Sri Lanka, Turkey and the United States of America were each elected to designate a person to serve on the Executive Board.


Committee A of the Assembly worked on a range of issues, including infant and young child nutrition, and prevention of avoidable blindness and visual impairment.


During the discussion on the prevention of avoidable blindness and visual impairment, His Royal Highness Prince A. bin Ahmed bin Abdelaziz of Saudi Arabia addressed Committee A.


At the Nutrition stand, Sharad Agarwal, Dr Amani Siyam and Jo-Ann Muriel present WHO’s Child Growth Standards.


Outside the Assembly Hall, delegates catch up on new publications and technical guidelines


Dr Anders Nordström, Acting Director-General of the World Health Organization, responds to questions from reporters. Dr Nordström became Acting Director-General following the sudden death of the Director General, Dr LEE Jong-wook, on Monday May 22.
