Standards in the area of quality assurance for medicines are development by WHO through a rigorous, international and wide consultative process. The advantages of WHO's standards are numerous and include the following:
- Validated internationally. through an independent scientific process, adoption by members of WHO Expert Advisory Panels
- Internationally collaboration. Collaboration with standard-setting organizations and parties, including regional and national pharmacopoeias
