Expert Committee on Specifications for Pharmaceutical Preparations (ECSPP)
About the Expert Committee
An Expert Committee is the highest official advisory body to the Director-General of WHO as well as to all the Organization’s Member States. An Expert Committee is established by the WHO World Health Assembly (WHA) or by an Executive Board (EB) decision. It is governed through rules and procedures that must be strictly adhered to. The WHO Expert Committee on Specifications for Pharmaceutical Preparations has been providing, for more than 60 years, recommendations and tools to assure the quality of medicines from their development phase to their final distribution to patients. This Committee also serves the United Nations Programme on Prequalification of Medicines managed and operated by WHO.
